Shannon Greer brings nearly 15 years of experience in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors to New West Public Affairs. With a background in broadcast journalism, she understands the power of impactful storytelling and how it can be harnessed to influence public opinion and government policy.
Prior to joining New West, Shannon led communications and media relations at the Calgary Stampede. From setting an all-time attendance record to opening Western Canada’s largest convention centre, Shannon focused on building relationships and driving outcomes.
Born in British Columbia and raised in Alberta, Shannon held senior government roles in both provinces. During her time in the BC Public Service, Shannon served as the Executive Director of Cabinet Priorities where she provided counsel to senior officials, and worked with economic, environment and justice ministries on integrated strategies, including the CleanBC Roadmap to 2030. Having also spent four years in the former Rachel Notley government, Shannon knows the political process and mechanics of government.
Shannon started her career as a reporter and covered stories across the prairies for a major Canadian broadcaster. She holds a Bachelor of Communication Studies from the University of Calgary and a diploma in Broadcast News from SAIT.
