The Honourable Jay Hill P.C., was the Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River in northeastern B.C. for 17 years. He served in Prime Minister Harper’s cabinet as Chief Government Whip, Government Leader of the House of Commons, as well as Vice Chair of Cabinet’s Operations Committee. In addition, he provided oversight of government spending as a longtime member of Cabinet’s Treasury Board committee.
Jay’s experience in the oil and gas sector prior to entering politics, and as a farmer and leader in the agriculture industry in B.C. positioned him as a respected resource to his party, caucus and cabinet colleagues. He provided valuable insights on matters concerning agriculture, transportation, oil and gas exploration and production, critical infrastructure development, mining and other issues impacting northern B.C.
After leaving politics in 2010, Jay established a successful consulting practice providing advice to a variety of companies including prominent oil and gas producers that were seeking to develop, transport, liquify and export British Columbia natural gas. He also served as Chair of the Board for Northstar Trade Finance. In 2011, Jay received the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation.
In 2014, Alberta Premier Jim Prentice appointed Jay to the position of Senior Representative to the New West Partnership, where he led the expansion and negotiations of the Free Trade Agreement between western provinces and northern territories.
